Did Grendel choose to be evil?



Since Grendel was descended from Cain, and from the information we are given in the poem, do you think Grendel could've chosen to do the right thing or was he inheritently evil?

    You always have a choice, no matter what you do. I believe that even if Grendel was a descendant from Cain, he could have still turned from his ways. I don't think that anyone or anything is just born evil. It's just free will. God gives everybody a choice.

    I agree with you Cephia. It dosen't matter who he descended from he still has a choice.
